Our Story
eh josé Taqueria is owned by two real-life Mexicans, Jesse and José, who are proud to call Niagara home. They are excited to be bringing the first authentic taqueria experience to St Catharines.
About eh josé
Chef José learned to cook from a young age from his Abuela and his cooking has stayed true to her teachings ever since. This passion for food led to the Eh José food truck that garnered a loyal following of foodies at St Catharines Farmers’ Market and beyond, before being sold in 2018. José was known in Niagara for his fresh, healthy dishes and in particular, his ability to cater to dietary requirements, serving delicious gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options. In José’s kitchen, M stands for molcajete not microwave!
Then one fateful Superbowl Sunday (possibly after a few Coronas) Jesse had the idea to find a permanent brick and mortar home for Eh José. Jesse’s heart was set on the already bustling food scene of Downtown St Catharines. His dream was to replicate the traditional taquerias of home and create a casual and welcoming space serving fast food, but not as we know it. Both owners have over 10 years of experience in the industry and have a passion for food, as well as ensuring that their business is environmentally conscious by using recyclable and compostable packaging for their take out options.
Eh José Taqueria is a far cry from the Tex-Mex dishes that many associate with Mexican cuisine. The dishes are light and fresh, made with love to make your belly happy!
